According to Karen J. Bannan, there are health advantages of eating organic foods. Organic foods contain fewer traces of pesticides, and sometimes have higher concentrations of vitamins than conventionally grown foods. This may translate to a number of health benefits. A recent University of California-Davis study suggests that organic foods have higher levels of flavonoids, plant pigments that may help prevent cancer. To make the switch, first change the foods you eat most. (If baby carrots are a daily snack, start with them.) Look for the new "USDA Organic" seal. Foods with this symbol have met the USDA standards. Anything labeled "100% organic" contains only organically produced ingredients. An "organic" label means it contains at least 95% organic materials.
